She has published three books about painting and has written over 60 articles for The Artist. Her teaching skills are much sought after at home and abroad She has held many successful one man exhibitions, but in recent years she stopped exhibiting to allow more time for her own painting and writing. This new collection consists of 60 to 70 watercolours painted outside on The Mizen Peninsula, West Cork, Ireland over the last ten years. Judi is a passionate en plein air painter well known for her fresh and spontaneous paintings. Having found her subject it is the interpretation which is at the heart of her work. It is not so much about representing what she can see but having something to say about it. ‘Easel in the Ditch’ is her first show in Ireland and her first solo exhibition for 14 years. This is a rare opportunity to see her work. Judi says; “My easel and I have had many adventures in ditches. We’ve weathered ditches with steep sides, ditches with cow pats, ditches full of water and, worst of all, ditches alongside busy roads full of tractors. As I look at the collection of paintings I remember all of the ditches, verges, lay bys and gateways where I ended up in my search for an interesting angle on the chosen subject. I remember all the kind people who appeared and offered us shelter, cups of tea and warmth. I remember all those special wonderful days painting on the Mizen during the last ten years. I do hope you can come and see my ‘one off’ Exhibition ‘Easel in the Ditch’ “
